Meraki Studios is an architectural gem set in the rugged nature of central Crete. Six minimalist studios and apartments (for 2–4 guests) are built into the rocks here, designed by Berlin-based architect Sigurd Larsen. A place where simplicity, nature, and design come together, and where you can truly unwind, far from mass tourism.
The buildings radiate understated elegance: concrete and local stone form the foundation, combined with light wood and bespoke furniture designed by Larsen himself. Interiors are simple yet comfortable, with Cocomat beds, compact kitchens, and terraces overlooking valleys and mountains. Everything feels natural, cool, and harmonious - as if the houses are part of the landscape. Outside, a 6,500 m² garden unfolds with centuries-old olive and fruit trees, terraces, shaded corners, and a shared infinity pool. Here you can relax, take in the views, or pick fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden.
Meraki Studios is perfect for couples and families. It’s a haven for those seeking silence while also wanting to experience the raw beauty and authenticity of Crete.
Within a short drive, you’ll find beaches such as Ligres and Triopetra, the lively town of Rethymno, and traditional villages like Spili with its local market. Hikers will love the Psiloritis National Park with its scenic trails. This is Crete as it once was: pure and unspoiled!
