Casa do Rio is a unique boutique hotel with infinity swimming pool in the north of Portugal. Tranquillity prevails in this verdant setting, where sweeping valley views form a beautiful backdrop for a thoroughly relaxing stay with your loved one.

There is a total of six identical rooms in the main building, all with:

• King-size bed
• Air conditioning
• Sitting area with beautiful, worn-in leather sofa and wood-burning stove
• Bathroom with shower, wash basin and toilet
• Fragrant toiletries

• Remote controlled blackout curtains
• Private terrace with river- and valley views

Suites:

Two (detached) suites have recently been added. They benefit from all of the same facilities, in addition to:

• More privacy, afforded by their separate location
• A free standing bathtub and shower in the bathroom

Living room:

The living room is cosy and homely; there are several sitting areas and the option of enjoying breakfast inside or warming up by the fireplace in the cooler season.
The decor is modern and tasteful, with quality furniture and large canvas prints of the Douro on the walls.

Terraces and garden:

There’s an expansive terrace in the main building that’s ideal for sunny breakfasts and romantic candlelight dinners. The garden surrounding Casa do Rio is brimming with wildflowers and there are a number of beautifully landscaped paths that lead to the swimming pool, suites and the river below.

Swimming pool & Spa:

Laze away your days next to the infinity swimming pool with spectacular views over the valley, and furnished with sunbeds and an outdoor shower. The owners have also created a pretty seating area next to the river below. Casa do Rio has its own spa, which offers free use of a Turkish bath, hot tub and steam cabin.

Service:

• Extensive daily breakfast buffet comprising meats, cheeses, fruit salads and delicious homemade jams and yogurt. Eggs are prepared as you like them.
• Sandwiches, salads and tapas are available throughout the day, as well as coffee and homemade cakes (you simply have to try the pastel de nata!).
• Delicious dinners are served with quality accompanying wines from the Quinta do Vallo vineyard, belonging to the owners. Please note that dinner is not available on Sunday. Whilst there is no formal restaurant on the premises, an in-house chef prepares meals using fresh, local ingredients, including vegetables from the hotel garden.
