Hidden among one hundred ancient olive trees, in the peaceful countryside of Puglia at the gateway to the Valle d’Itria, lies Casa l’Abbraccio: a remarkable design villa for up to 8 guests. Here, life naturally slows down, accompanied only by the sounds of crickets, birds, rustling trees and long days spent outdoors.
The villa was designed together with an Italian architect by its Dutch owners, both from the world of design, and this is reflected throughout the house. Traditional Puglian architecture has been elegantly blended with contemporary elements. Soft limewashed tones, natural materials and refined design details create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. Playful niches, built-in cabinetry, handcrafted finishes and carefully selected design pieces by Piet Hein Eek, Wieki Somers and Tom Dixon, combined with creations by the owners themselves, give the interiors a truly unique character. Large windows and French doors allow Mediterranean light to flood the spaces, creating a subtle connection between indoors and outdoors.
At the heart of the villa is the spacious open-plan living area with kitchen, a long dining table and an inviting sitting area centred around the fireplace. The bedrooms are situated on either side of the living space. One of the bedrooms also features a bunk bed in addition to a double bed, making it ideal for families. From every bedroom, you can step directly onto the terrace or into the garden. Outside, authentic Puglian living unfolds: gravel paths winding through olive groves, hidden seating areas, beanbags beneath the trees and a Mediterranean garden where you can pick fresh herbs, lemons, oranges and pomegranates. A covered outdoor kitchen with BBQ and large dining table, together with a veranda furnished with comfortable lounge sofas, sets the scene for long evenings outdoors. Take a refreshing dip in the elegant infinity pool overlooking the impressive UNESCO-listed trullo and the surrounding olive grove.
Casa l’Abbraccio is located at the entrance to the Itria Valley, just a short distance from Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica, two of the region’s most beautiful towns. Within approximately twenty minutes you can reach the Adriatic coast and the Torre Guaceto nature reserve. Charming villages such as Cisternino, Martina Franca and Alberobello are also close by. A special destination for those who appreciate tranquillity, beauty and the pure lifestyle of Southern Italy.
