In the heart of the Loire Valley lies the luxury holiday home Château de la Haute Borde for 18 people, overlooking a 10-hectare park full of enormous chestnut trees, a pond and a swimming pool. Architecture and nature merge in this nineteenth-century building, which has been transformed into a refined residence, decorated with exclusive art and design objects.
The renovation was completed in the summer of 2020, under the direction of photographers and creative directors Céline Barrère and Cécile Simon. Together with various architects and designers, they have created an elegant and peaceful residence. When the chateau is not rented out, the doors are open to artists who are allowed to stay there to work on their creations. These artistic influences can be seen everywhere: paintings, art objects and antique furniture shine against the white walls.
The living room on the ground floor is divided into different seating areas, connected by beautiful French doors. Each space is very spacious and exudes tranquility, so that the art objects and design pearls (including a leather sofa by Martin Visser and the armchairs by Francis Jourdain) steal the show. Guests can also let their creativity run wild in the music room, equipped with a turntable, piano and guitars. There is also a billiards table for guests who are not musically constructed. The 9 bedrooms have a minimalist design, using only natural materials and warm colors. The bathrooms are made of raw brick and Italian marble. The focus is on sustainable and ecological materials, without compromising on luxury and aesthetics.
Outside you look out on the huge and dreamy park with tall chestnut trees and a pond that you can sail over by boat. A little further you will find the 13-meter-long heated swimming pool and several places to relax. In the garden you can enjoy a joint lunch or dinner at the long tables, prepared in the spacious professional kitchen with local products and vegetables from our own garden. In the morning you can sleep in, because then the extensive breakfast is fully prepared for you. From the chateau you can walk straight to the Loire and you can take a dip in the river or enjoy the sunset at one of the restaurants along the water.

Château de la Haute Borde is the ideal location to discover the Loire region: you can drive along the Loire and spot castles or take a look at the local cuisine at one of the many restaurants along the river. It is not without reason that this region is on the World Heritage List of UNESCO: in the valley picturesque historic villages and towns alternate with beautiful natural landscapes, such as extensive vineyards and lush forests.
The town of Amboise, where Leonardo Da Vinci spent his last years and where there is a royal castle, is about 20 minutes by car. The old town of Blois, nestled between two hills on the river, is a 20-minute drive away and a must if you want to get lost in one of the narrow streets in the historic center. Tours, the former capital of the Touraine province, is only 45 minutes away. In this old town you will find street markets with local products, huge cathedrals and of course cozy terraces. Here you can enjoy the many culinary specialties and wine from the Loire region. Do you feel that you have not seen enough of the valley yet? Then a hot air balloon ride is a very impressive way to admire the architectural masterpieces from the air.
