A wonderful getaway where the Portuguese owner Rui has really thought about everything. For him, creating an experience for the guest is paramount. Rightly, the two Cooking & Nature concepts each offer a separate and special experience. First, the Emotional Hotel is characterized by a sleek and modern interior supplemented with nice vintage items. The atmosphere is characterized as homely, atmospheric, and comfortable.
Emotional Hotel rooms (25-30m2):
There are 12 stylish rooms (suitable for 2 - 4 persons), located on the upper floor, each with large windows and its own unique character. All rooms have free WiFi internet, air conditioning, and a modern bathroom with shower/bath and bathrobes. Some rooms have a private balcony with a panoramic view of the surroundings and in some rooms, an extra (children's) bed can be placed.
Secondly, the intimate The Nest places you in an environment of the comfort and affection of a real nest, where you will feel right at home. The rooms (for 2 people) and apartments (for 2 adults and 2 children) have a minimalist design with natural and traditional materials. Every detail in the furnishings has been carefully considered. Wooden stools, refined linen and soft bedspreads, wicker baskets, special lamps, hand-crafted coat racks, and storage spaces; here everything comes from nature! The apartments and rooms are all slightly different in design, color, and decor, but all have WiFi internet, free mineral water, bath towels, toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers. There is no television!
The Nest rooms (25-30m2):
The 8 double rooms have a double bed, a luxurious private bathroom with a bathtub, and a balcony.
The Nest apartments (40m2):
In addition to a double bed, the 3 apartments have an extra sleeping place for two children, either in a bunk bed or on the sofa bed in the living room. The mattresses for the children are smaller than usual (1.75 cm) and therefore suitable for children up to and including 11 years old. In addition, there is a luxurious bathroom with a bathtub, an equipped kitchenette, a small sitting/dining table, and a balcony.
Service and facilities @ Cooking and Nature
- Daily breakfast with a wide choice of tasty products (on request, for example, a fried egg can also be provided). For hotel guests, breakfast is served in buffet form inside or outside on the terrace. Guests staying at The Nest will receive a breakfast basket delivered to their door.
- Honesty bar: beer, wine, soft drinks, and stronger drinks are available. You write down what you take and you pay this on departure.
- A restaurant that cooks well with fresh, local ingredients. It is also possible to participate in a cooking workshop!
- Wellness area (open from November to the end of May) with three 'healing' pools (with different water temperatures). Massage treatments and yoga classes can be organized upon request.

Outdoors:
In the garden, there are several seating areas where you can relax in a Fatboy in the shade or in one of the other lounge areas where you can enjoy the peace and the impressive view of the surroundings. The Emotional Hotel has an outdoor pool and a separate shallow children's pool. The Nest outdoor pool (open from April to mid-October) is equipped with sunbeds, parasols, lounge cushions, and seats.
Surroundings @ Cooking and Nature
Cooking and Nature is a very suitable base for exploring Central Portugal, where there is still much to discover. The hotel is located in the middle of the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park. The nearest sights and villages can be reached within an hour's drive. Hiking and cycling routes are available at reception and bicycles can be borrowed free of charge to explore the nearby caves of Alvados, for example.
