Completely surrounded by woods and a stream, amidst the unrivaled beauty of the French Dordogne, lies the luxury holiday home Fontalbe. The owners Rebecca and Greg have lovingly restored this old dilapidated paper factory and turned it into a fantastic accommodation for 12 people, perfect for a large family or group of friends who want to enjoy comfort and tranquility. Hidden behind the historic façade you will find a light, spacious and modern design, designed by the Dutch architect Joris van Grinsven. The décor combines traditional elements with design furniture, tight cement floors and natural materials in a rural chic atmosphere. The contemporary decor in subdued shades of gray below and the stylish bright rooms above, enrich the modernity of this house in contrast to its rural surroundings.
Fontalbe has five ensuite bedrooms with hotel quality beds and Egyptian cotton bed linen. In addition, an individual apartment in the house can accommodate two people, perfect for guests who want extra privacy during their stay.
The robust concrete kitchen is equipped with all modern appliances and while preparing dinner, others can enjoy a drink at the bar. The living room is very spacious with four large sofas to get together with each other. The white beamed ceiling creates a nice contrast with the gray cement floor, wooden side table and beautiful decorations.
In the garden of 14 hectares lies the large (10x12m) heated private pool. Children are very welcome, they can go on an adventure in the garden and have fun in the swimming pool, on the swing and with the table tennis table while you'll enjoy the peace and quiet.
The house has fine and luxurious facilities for an ultimate holiday: large outdoor kitchen, many terraces, bluetooth speaker, table tennis, hamman towels, Honest Skincare moisturizer, bodywash, shampoo and conditioner.
In the surrounding villages you will find authentic local shops, atmospheric markets and small brasseries. For sporting pleasure there are numerous cycling routes nearby, you can swim or canoe in the river Dordogne and the owners also offer delicious culinary experiences and services.
In Fontalbe you will experience luxurious family holidays in a rural idyll.
All accommodations in our unique collection meet our high standards in quality, comfort, style and setting. We visit every place, meet the owners and explore the area, so we are sure that you will have a great holiday here!

Fontalbe is very quietly situated in the middle of the woods and fields of the rural Dordogne in the town of Saint-Avit Senieur. This charming village has a medieval abbey (a UNESCO heritage site) and is located on the "Route de Compostela". Five minutes drive away are more small picturesque villages where you will find authentic local shops such as in Beaumont-du-Perigord. Here is a fantastic butcher, a baker with amazing desserts and a small organic shop. Almost every day there are markets in the neighborhood that sell cheese and other local products. The Intermarché supermarket is a five minute drive away and larger supermarkets can be reached within twenty minutes by car. There are also many small brasseries and restaurants to discover in the area, such as Table de Leo at Saint-Avit Senieur and Chez Cathy et Paulo at Cadouin. Chateau les Merles (also designed by Joris Van Grinsven) is 15 minutes away and you have more culinary options in Issigeac. You can also eat at the restaurant of our partner Bassiviere. The owners are even willing to bring you and pick you up to restaurants in the area.
Fontalbe is a recently renovated holiday home for 12 people near the authentic village of Saint-Avit-Sénieur (in the Dordogne).
