OTIIMA House is an architectural gem, perfectly integrated into nature. The house is tucked away in the mountainous and wooded Peneda-Gerês National Park in Northern Portugal, known for its natural beauty.
The building is largely made of wood resting on a cement base. The use of these materials is continued in the house. Large windows and exceptionally high sliding doors blur visual boundaries, blending the interior with the exterior. Another special feature of the house is the large open (multi) functional interior space, which is sparely furnished with design pieces, eye-catching details, and finished with wooden walls and ceilings that provide a warm ambiance.
The large central living room opens onto a terrace with an enviable view equipped with a hot tub and the unique SO1 design lamp (by Sarah Olaerts). Across the terrace in a detached concrete area is the ensuite master bedroom with organically shaped sanitary and a walk-in shower!
On the other side of the living room are the fully equipped custom kitchen, a dining area, and a second terrace. Stairs bring you to a "catwalk-like" mezzanine floor with two more double bedrooms with private bathrooms, a sauna, and a lounge area.
The outdoors are fully designed to make use of its extraordinary location; a (river) stream goes down and ends in a gorgeous natural swimming pool with a wooden deck where you can enjoy the serenity and greenery around you. On the lawn next to the pool - in the shade of the trees - you can dine in the open air at the long picnic tables.
If you can resist leaving this idyllic spot, you can be guided on hikes, Jeep tours, or be pampered with a dinner with organic products from the house. Also, a day out to the rural villages and beautiful churches in the area, a city trip to Braga and water sports at the nearby dams are absolutely worthwhile!

OTIIMA house is located on a slope in a completely secluded private property, surrounded by unspoiled nature with forests, a river stream, and a natural waterfall. It is a perfect retreat for those who want to escape the daily hustle and bustle and immerse themselves in beautiful nature.
The architecture of the house has been completely adapted to its natural location. The entrance of the house is on the first floor and from this floor, you have a view over the entire grounds and the surrounding mountain landscape.
Layout OTIIMA house
First floor:
- The master suite with a double bed and a private bathroom. An immense window opens to the terrace that also connects to the living room.
- Living/dining room with a lounge area with various (design) chairs, a desk, a chaise longue, and a dining table on the other side.
- Fully equipped kitchen including an espresso machine, ice maker, microwave, wine cooler, refrigerator, Nespresso, dishwasher, bread maker, oven, and hob.
- A staircase in the living room leads to the upper floor, a unique mezzanine floor.
Upper floor:
- Two bedrooms with ensuite bathroom, sauna, and a lounge area with a sofa.
Furthermore, the house is equipped with a satellite TV, Wi-Fi Internet, underfloor heating, table tennis, and darts, and there is one double sofa bed available for extra guests.
Outside:
Via a staircase, you descend the grounds to the large garden with a lawn and a natural swimming pool with a sun deck and lounge chairs. You will find two large poolside picnic tables under the shade of the tree.
The living room is bordered by a terrace with a hot tub on one side and a terrace with a fire pit and lounge chairs on the other.
You will also find a vegetable garden and fruit trees on the property.
