As you walk up to Paço da Gloria trhough the country side of Arcos de Valdevez, the stone turrets of the 18th century chateau rise from the green garden. This extraordinary property has been owned by many British aristocrats and breathes countless interesting stories through its beautiful interiors and glorious gardens. In 2023, the castle has undergone a metamorphosis and you have the unique opportunity to spend a memorable vacation here with family and/or friends.

Paço da Gloria consists of a bedrooms corridor that comprises seven beautiful suites, all with ensuite bathroom. This part is connected to a 3-level tower where the common areas can be found; a contemporary living with a fireplace, a dining room views over the woods and a fully equipped modern kitchen. In the same building two studio apartments can be found (independent entrance). All hotel-style bedrooms include top-quality linens, bath amenities and individually controlled air-conditioning.

Guests are invited to visit the aristocratic floor of the Manor House with sculptures and elegant archways and its balconies and can enjoy the lush green outdoors. There is an outdoor saltwater pool as well as an indoor heated pool, so you can take a swim no matter the weather. You could spend an enjoyable afternoon practising yoga (100m2 deck) or with the kids picking fruits and vegetables in the vegetable garden or orchards or engage in a game on the tennis court. There is also a vineyard and a playground to keep kids busy. 

If you want to go out and explore, go for a walk in the forests of the Peneda-Geres National Park. The ocean is not far away either, with beaches just a 30-minute drive away. For a cultural trip, drive to Porto in an hour.

Layout Paço da Gloria (390 m2)

  • In the bedrooms corridor, there are seven suites (either double or single beds), all with bathrooms, top-quality linens, bath amenities and individually controlled air-conditioning. Bed sizes 6 rooms of 180x200 or 90x200 / 2 rooms of 200x200 or 100x100 / 1 room of 160x200

  • Two studio apartments, with kitchenette and room for 2 adults and 1-2 kids on the sofa, housed in the tower on the lower garden level and with an own entrance. 

  • The communual areas can be found in the three-floor tower; 

    • the living room with a vaulted ceiling and a fireplace. 

    • Set against the backdrop of a long window, the dining area has a table to seat 14 guests. 

    • The 40 sqm kitchen is modern and fully functional, with a blender, oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, stove, coffee maker, induction cooker, toaster and kettle, as well as crockery and cutlery. 

  • All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers or bathtubs.

  • The property has appropriate cots, high chairs and crockery and cutlery for children to use. Also raincoats and wellies are available in case this is needed. 

Outside (36,000 m2)

  • Paço da Gloria has expansive grounds with many activities for guests. A stepped garden encircles the house, with sculptures, seating areas, benches sheltered by large trees, archways and stone pathways.

  • The house has two pools - a 98 m2 outdoor saltwater pool and a 27 m2 indoor heated pool. Both are maximum 1.60 m deep and are open from 9 am to 6 pm.

  • Yoga deck 100m2

  • Guests can pick fresh fruits and vegetables from the orchard or vegetable garden for their meals.

  • In the garden, there are two outdoor tables, one for 14 guests and one for six guests where you can enjoy alfresco dining.

  • A vineyard near the house makes for a great spot to sample grapes and wines.

  • For guests who like to stay active, there is a tennis court on the grounds.

  • Kids can enjoy the playground on site.

  • The manor house has many balconies from where you can enjoy views of the surroundings.

  • Guests can also access a lake area nearby to experience the natural setting of the property.

  • The house has an electric gate for safety.

  • There are some parking spots on site.
