In the heart of the Alentejo region (Portugal), amid fields full of olive trees and vines, is set Design Hotel Torre de Palma. Inspired by the traditional layout of the estate, the renovation retained the typical local architecture and added new minimalist spaces with the old tower as a central point. The surrounding grounds contain vineyards of (self-blended) Portuguese indigenous varieties, an organic vegetable garden, an orchard, and a small olive grove. An enjoyable natural environment where young and old can relax and play. In the evening, the estate is lit with candles and creates a magical atmosphere.
The stylish interior of the 19 inviting rooms is a mix of modern design, eye-catching works of art, and colorful objects and fabrics. All rooms and suites are equipped with comfortable beds, air conditioning, underfloor heating in the bathroom, Castelbel care products, bathrobes and slippers, as well as WIFI internet, an iPod dock, and a LCD TV. There are also family rooms, one of which even has a private swimming pool.
The owners Ana and Paulo Barradas Rebelo have ensured that their dream hotel offers all the ingredients for a special family holiday. But at the same time, Torre de Palma is a perfect place for a relaxing holiday for two. Taste wines from the vineyard and enjoy a quiet moment in the stylish common indoor areas and outdoor terraces; they are a feast for the eyes! - Restaurant: A young chef from Alentejo runs the fine restaurant Basilii, the gastronomic area of the hotel which can be found in the old house. Here, the rural Alentejo countryside is represented in a modern way; carefully selected vintage furniture and various wood structures contrast with whitewashed walls and a sleek concrete floor. The restaurant serves local dishes and uses ingredients from its vegetable garden. In the cafeteria, a buffet-style breakfast is served in person at your table.
- The hotel boasts many open communal areas with a beautiful design. Here you can pass time in an authentic setting. Try a glass of wine, read a book in the quiet piano room, watch television in the large TV room, and have a drink in the bar where you can also find a billiard table.
- Spa: The hotel's Spa offers massages, treatments, and wellness activities in 30-minute and 60-minute sessions for which a reservation is required. Besides, the Spa is equipped with a hot tub and a Turkish bath. You will also find an indoor swimming pool with loungers. Access to the Spa is included in the price of the hotel room.
- Winery: The hotel has a traditional winery where you can learn every step of the wine production process such as selecting and harvesting the grapes and even stomping them with your feet! Apart from an extensive vineyard, there is also a room full of wine barrels and a tasting room which also hosts wine events.
- Riding school: In the riding school, you can ride traditional Portuguese Lusitano horses and take lessons (for beginners and children). Children can also assist in caring and feeding the horses. A wonderful experience!
