In the heart of the Alentejo region (Portugal), amid fields full of olive trees and vines, is set Design Hotel Torre de Palma. Inspired by the traditional layout of the estate, the renovation retained the typical local architecture and added new minimalist spaces with the old tower as a central point. The surrounding grounds contain vineyards of (self-blended) Portuguese indigenous varieties, an organic vegetable garden, an orchard, and a small olive grove. Torre de Palma is a 10-minute drive from Monforte, a village in the Portuguese Alentejo region. The name of this village derives from its location, on top of a hill on the left bank of Ribeira Grande. In addition to stunning views, you will find a fascinating mix of Roman ruins, medieval towers, and Baroque palaces. The heart of Monforte is the Praça da República square dotted with orange trees and the inevitable fountain. Local crafts have been handed down here from generation to generation, so you'll find plenty of handicrafts made from cork, wood, stone, and leather.

Badajoz Airport (in Spain) can be reached in about 1h10 minutes. From the Netherlands, you can fly to this airport via Barcelona or Madrid. Lisbon airport is a 2-hour drive away (200 km).

Torre de Palma was created from the remains of an old house dating from 1338 and is characterized by its typical whitewashed walls and red roofs. The hotel has 19 rooms divided into four categories, which are all housed in the main building or the independent old tenants’ houses. The rooms are ideal for families with children and couples.
