Laurence Delvallez is a jewelry designer and a true aesthete at heart. With an eye for detail and a passion for pure beauty, she transformed a run-down house in the heart of Andalusia into a serene and stylish retreat: Casa Mima.
I’m Laurence Delvallez. Together with my husband and our three children, we live in Wortegem, Belgium. We’re an energetic family—my husband is the more rational one, while I’m the creative and sometimes slightly chaotic counterpart.
I’m a jewelry designer with a deep passion for aesthetics in all its forms—from fashion to architecture and interior design. The creative process, from a first idea to the final result, gives me endless satisfaction. I try to weave that love for beauty into everyday life: I find great joy in a beautifully set table, meaningful conversations with friends, and discovering places that radiate calm, warmth, and character.
In 2022, I discovered the house—it was basically a ruin, with only the surrounding walls still standing. Exactly the kind of challenge that energizes me: a place with a soul, just waiting to be brought back to life. What struck me immediately was the sweeping view and the raw power of the surroundings. My dream was to create a place that moves people—a retreat where you can unwind with friends or family, reconnect with each other and with nature, and make memories that linger.
Casa Mima breathes tranquility, purity, and understated luxury. I was inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi: the beauty of imperfection, simplicity, and natural materials. The interior features raw textures, warm tones, and authentic elements. Everything has been thoughtfully designed without excess—a space where you can slow down, recharge, and simply be.
That’s a tough one—I love every corner of Casa Mima. But if I had to choose, I’d say the kitchen—it’s the heart of the home. Large windows let in an abundance of light and offer stunning views of the greenery. While you cook, friends or family gather around for a glass of wine or a good conversation. It overlooks the patio, an intimate spot with both sun and shade—perfect for a moment of pause and reflection in between stirring pots.
Without a doubt, the view: a breathtaking panorama of olive trees and rolling hills as far as the eye can see. You’re truly immersed in nature here, surrounded by a peaceful silence that’s hard to find these days. At the same time, Casa Mima is uniquely positioned between three fascinating cities—Granada, Córdoba, and Málaga—making it an ideal base for anyone wanting to combine tranquility with culture, cuisine, and Southern charm.
Let go of your schedule and ease into the slow rhythm of this place. A boat trip on Lake Iznájar is a beautiful way to experience the area from the water. Or visit the Alhambra in Granada, walk the dramatic Caminito del Rey, or spend a day exploring Málaga. And above all: taste! There are several charming local restaurants nearby where you can enjoy delicious regional cuisine.
