Meet the people behind the place: Las Tres Casas

In the heart of Andalusia, Simone is the owner of Villa Pepita, Casa Habiba, and Casa Maru — three properties that together form Las Tres Casas, which she runs together with her husband, Mike. Set in La Axarquía, a region where time seems to slow down and life unfolds at an unhurried pace, their houses reflect a spirit of care and attention that makes every stay special. Inside, the atmosphere is contemporary and warm, with a homey feeling that immediately puts guests at ease. Simone’s approach to styling and furnishing sets her villas apart from others in the region, giving each space its own distinct character while staying true to the essence of Andalusia.

What is the name of your accommodation?

Villa Pepita / Casa Habiba / Casa Maru

Could you introduce yourself (and your family, if relevant) and share a bit about your life, such as your interests, hobbies, or background?

I am Simone, owner of Las Tres Casas, Villa Pepita, Casa Habiba, and Casa Maru, located in the most beautiful region of Andalusia: La Axarquía. Here you go back in time, life runs in slow motion, and it is the perfect place to leave the busy world behind. My husband Mike and I live in the center of Antwerp together with our dachshund. Our three children live on their own, which allows us to spend more time in Andalusia. It’s a wonderful combination: occasionally trading the vibrant city life for the tranquility of Andalusia. Mike owns a restaurant, De Peerdestal, in Antwerp, but he has been slowing down a little recently. I mainly focus on the rentals and keeping the houses up to date, while Mike enjoys working on and around the houses, so we complement each other very well.

How did your property become part of your life? When did it happen, and what inspired or motivated you to take it on?

We bought our first villa, Villa Pepita, in 2015. After a major renovation, we decided to share the villa with other enthusiastic guests, and this was a great success. Apparently, I had a knack for transforming a simple villa into a paradise under the sun. A few years later Casa Habiba followed, which also turned out to be a gem after extensive renovation. For my own houses I use vintage finds that blend beautifully into a Mediterranean atmosphere. I scour shops, markets, and the internet to find items that are just a little different from the rest—and it has proven to be successful. Then I really got into it and decided to help other foreigners renovate and decorate their Andalusian homes. As the crowning touch, Casa Maru was born. We spend a lot of time there ourselves, but of course we are just as happy at the other places. By now I speak the language and enjoy working together with the locals.

What was the process of creating your property like? Tell us about renovating, furnishing, or styling it.

I personally oversee my renovations, carefully choose the furnishings, and the styling is entirely my own. I try to be just a little different from other villas in the region. Call it a personal touch!

What makes your property truly special to you? Do you have any favorite spots, cherished memories, or personal touches that make it dear to your heart?

We celebrated our wedding at Villa Pepita in 2018, which makes this place even more special. All three villas have a fantastic location with stunning views and sunsets. I cannot choose; each one has left its own unique mark.

How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your property?

Contemporary, warm interiors with a feeling of coming home to a holiday place. Everything is provided from A to Z.

What motivated or inspired you to rent your property to guests?

Caring is in our blood. With Mike as a restaurateur, and myself having inherited the same care-driven nature, it feels wonderful to welcome happy guests into the houses we are so proud of.

What can guests expect when staying at your accommodation? Share the experience, the highlights, and perhaps the best compliment you’ve received from past guests.

You instantly feel at home—whether young or old. Surrounded by unspoiled nature, breathtaking views, and yet not too far from the city of Málaga, a day at the beach, or cultural excursions.

What do you hope guests will take away from their stay, and do you have any special tips or recommendations to make their holiday unforgettable?

That they will continue to enjoy their holiday here long after they have returned home.
