Meet the people behind the place: Gite La Grange

During their search for a place where peace, nature, and connection could come together, Edwin and Angela found their dream in 2021 in the heart of the Gers: Gite La Grange . What began as a longing for balance and simplicity blossomed into a sanctuary where stillness and beauty meet. Here, surrounded by rolling hills and views of the Pyrenees, they have created a place where not only they themselves can slow down, but where others are invited to pause, breathe, and reconnect with what truly matters. Gite La Grange is their invitation to anyone seeking space — both in nature and within themselves.

Could you introduce yourself and share a bit about your life, such as your interests, hobbies, or background?

We are Edwin and Angela, partners in life and in our dream place Gite La Grange. What began as a desire for more peace, nature, and connection grew into a place where we can not only find balance ourselves but also offer that same experience to others. We love the simple outdoor life, good food, deep conversations, and silence. Angela has spent years exploring personal development, mindfulness, and holistic health, while Edwin follows his passion for creating calming spaces, building, and cooking. Together, we are a strong and loving team that tends to this place with great care and attention. Our interests lie in breathing, silence, conscious living, and returning to what truly matters. As entrepreneurs, we understand how overwhelming life can be. That’s why we value creating a space where people can truly slow down and come home to themselves.

How did your property become part of your life? When did it happen, and what inspired or motivated you to take it on?

Gite La Grange came into our lives at a time when we felt ready for change. We longed for more peace, open space, and a life connected with nature. In 2021, we found this place in the Gers, in Southwest France, and it felt like everything fell into place. The view, the silence, the energy, we immediately knew this was it. Our motivation wasn’t only the wish for a different lifestyle but also a deep realization that many people are searching for the same. We wanted to create a place where people can truly un-meet, where luxury goes hand in hand with simplicity, where nothing is required, and everything can simply be. It wasn’t an impulsive decision, but an inner calling. Since then, our mission has been to share this place with those who want to pause, breathe, and come home to themselves.

What was the process of creating your property like? Tell us about renovating, furnishing, or styling it.

Creating Gite La Grange was a journey, both physically and emotionally. When we bought the property, we immediately saw the potential in the old barn, a steel frame with only a roof, but also the challenge ahead to transform it into something special. In November 2023, we began renovating it with one clear goal, peace and comfort. Every choice, from colors to materials, was made to create calm and stillness. Natural tones, abundant light, minimal yet warm design. Each room has its own personality, with views over the valley and the Pyrenees, offering both privacy and luxury. We didn’t want a standard holiday home but a place that feels like a retreat. So, we designed hotel-style suites with soft beds, walk-in showers, private terraces, and details that radiate tranquility such as wood accents, cozy corners, and thoughtful styling. Everything was created with care and love, not perfect, but filled with heart and soul. And you can feel that the moment you walk in.

What makes your property truly special to you? Do you have any favorite spots, cherished memories, or personal touches that make it dear to your heart?

What makes Gite La Grange truly special to us is its energy. There’s a rare peace here, a silence you can feel as soon as you arrive. Everything was designed around the view, like a living postcard. One of our favorite spots is the terrace at the edge of the valley. Early mornings there, with a coffee and the sun rising over the hills and the Pyrenees, are always magical. It reminds us why we started this journey. We hold many dear memories, the first time we sat in silence here and knew this was home, or hearing guests say they slept better than they had in years. We’ve filled the place with small personal touches, from hand-picked antiques to flowers from our garden, each adding to that sense of home. Not only for us, but for everyone who stays.

How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your property?

The atmosphere at Gite La Grange can best be described as quiet luxury, a combination of comfort, calm, and simplicity that allows guests to truly unwind. Inside, everything breathes space. The interior is minimalist yet warm, using natural materials like wood, linen, and stone. Each element has been carefully chosen to enhance a sense of calm, no excess, just balance. Soft colors, large windows with postcard views of the valley and Pyrenees, and furniture that invites you to slow down. The suites are spacious, each with a walk-in shower, private toilet, air conditioning, and a terrace. Outside, you hear only birds, wind, and the soft murmur of the pool. The entire place feels like a deep breath, a sanctuary where you don’t have to do anything but can feel everything.

Are there any sustainable or eco-friendly applications associated with your property that you are proud of?

Yes, sustainability plays an important role in how we run Gite La Grange. Caring for the planet is, for us, a natural part of offering peace and space to our guests. We use local materials and suppliers to minimize transport impact and support the local community. Our garden grows naturally, without chemicals, in harmony with the seasons. Our air conditioning and heating systems are energy-efficient, and we make conscious choices about lighting and water use. Guests are encouraged to reuse towels and separate waste. What makes us most proud is that guests often become more mindful simply by being here, through the stillness, the nature, and the slower rhythm. Sustainability, to us, is as much about awareness as it is about technology.

What motivated or inspired you to rent your property to guests?

Our motivation to rent out Gite La Grange came from a mix of personal experience and a clear vision of hospitality. We noticed a growing need among people, especially entrepreneurs and professionals, for a place to truly relax without giving up comfort. From our own experience of constant busyness and responsibility, we knew what was missing in many vacations or retreats, true rest, genuine attention, and luxury without overstimulation. We wanted to create a space between a high-end stay and a nurturing retreat. Our guests appreciate that, they feel completely taken care of yet still personally connected. For us, this isn’t just a project, but a conscious way of doing business, where hospitality, quality, and well-being meet. We don’t just offer accommodation; we offer an experience that stays with you and sparks something within.

We were warmly welcomed by Angela and Edwin and immediately felt at home in their tastefully and comfortably designed accommodation. We enjoyed breathtaking panoramic views of the Pyrenees, refreshing swims, a wood-fired jacuzzi, and the blissful peace that surrounds this place. The region is stunning, rolling fields of sunflowers and hay bales, birds of prey, deer, and swallows, interspersed with lovely lakes perfect for relaxing. Highly recommended! We’ll definitely be back.”

What do you hope guests will take away from their stay, and do you have any special tips or recommendations to make their holiday unforgettable?

What we hope guests take home from their stay at Gite La Grange is space, not only in their schedule but in their mind and heart. We want them to leave feeling slower, as if something tight has been released. To rediscover what truly matters, peace, connection, simplicity, and to realize that this feeling can continue at home if you allow it.  Our tip for an unforgettable stay, let go of the “musts.” Don’t plan too much. Turn off your phone. Wake early for the sunrise over the valley. Bring a book but don’t feel you have to finish it. Enjoy a glass of wine under the stars. And above all, let the silence do its work. Explore the surroundings, taste local cheeses and wines, and walk the rolling hills of the Gers. But remember, here, you don’t have to do anything. You can simply be.
