Meet the people behind the place: Olea Terra
Olea Terra is the result of a five year journey by a French-Dutch couple, who lovingly transformed an old farmhouse into a serene home in Provence. Rooted in the beauty of slow living, their days are shaped by homegrown vegetables, long shared dinners, and the peaceful rhythm of the countryside. It is this sense of warmth, calm, and authenticity that they are delighted to share with their guests.
What is the name of your accommodation?
Olea Terra
Could you introduce yourself and share a bit about your life, such as your interests, hobbies, or background?
We are a French-Dutch couple who met in Berlin more than ten years ago. Back then, we dreamed of big cities, faraway continents, and a life on the other side of the world. Ending up in a small Provençal village was never part of the plan, but Covid changed everything.
How did your property become part of your life? When did it happen, and what inspired or motivated you to take it on?
What began as an unexpected turn slowly became an obvious choice: Provence, and this old farmhouse that captured our hearts. It is a place full of character, history, and a great deal of work. It took us five years to renovate it patiently and lovingly and turn it into our dream home.
Today, it is a home we are proud to open to guests. Life moves at a different rhythm here. We grow our own vegetables, produce our own olive oil, teach Pilates classes, and embrace the simple pleasures of Provençal living. Our days are shaped by the seasons, long meals, sunlight, and quiet moments, all shared with our little blind dog, who completes our family.
More than just a place to stay, our farmhouse is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and experience the true Provençal lifestyle: authentic, warm, and deeply rooted in nature.
What was the process of creating your property like? Tell us about renovating, furnishing, or styling it.
It was a long and dusty journey. It took us five years to almost complete the renovation and turn it into our dream home. Room by room, and idea by idea, the house slowly came to life. There was a great deal of demolition and rebuilding, and almost everything was done with our own hands, with help from Lisa’s father.
What makes your property truly special to you? Do you have any favorite spots, cherished memories, or personal touches that make it dear to your heart?
What makes it truly special to us is the sense of peace, the vineyards surrounding the house, and of course our little dog running happily around the property.
How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your property?
The atmosphere is that of a modern farmhouse. We chose natural materials such as limewash, polished concrete, and wood throughout the house. The interior and exterior blend beautifully together, creating a calm and harmonious feeling for our guests.
Are there any sustainable or eco-friendly applications associated with your property that you are proud of?
Yes, we are very proud of the sustainable choices we have made. We have been producing our own olive oil for the past two years, we grow our own vegetables, and we use only environmentally friendly heating and cooling systems in the house. We try to respect nature and the environment as much as possible.
What motivated or inspired you to rent your property to guests?
We are only two people living in a big house, and we have always loved hosting dinners at home. It is our love language, and we wanted to share that feeling with guests during their holiday in Provence.
What can guests expect when staying at your accommodation? Share the experience, the highlights, and perhaps the best compliment you’ve received from past guests.
Guests can expect a warm, family atmosphere, love in every detail, home-cooked dinners, and high-quality produce. And of course, almost everyone falls in love with LOUPIE, our little blind furry baby, who will happily play with you all day and occasionally try to steal your food, sorry about that.
What do you hope guests will take away from their stay, and do you have any special tips or recommendations to make their holiday unforgettable?
We hope guests leave feeling inspired to cook more seasonally and to put time and care into the moments that matter most. Above all, we want them to experience the Provençal lifestyle not just as tourists in another country, but in a way that feels genuine and connected.
