A marvel of creative Dutch architecture: thirty meters long clad in reflective steel tiles, partly suspended above the ground for the most breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The Balancing Barn certainly makes a striking first impression! But not only its architecture can be called remarkable, inside you will find numerous astonishing highlights as well. The wood-clad walls and ceilings are complemented by custom-designed lighting and modern design furniture. Large wall canvases and carpets - based on paintings by local painters Constable and Gainsborough - add color while skylights, a glass floor, and large windows add to the open feel of the house.

To one side of the barn, you will find an excellent kitchen with high-quality appliances and a contemporary style with direct access to the garden. On the other side, you will find the floating living room with a great view of the natural surroundings on three sides. This is the perfect place to retreat in colder months; light the wood stove, relax with a book, or listen to music. Between these two areas are four double bedrooms with handmade solid oak furniture, each with its own bathroom. Two bedrooms have in-room baths for a little extra pampering.

Six acres of private gardens and terraces surround the property for dining, cooking (a barbecue on the fire pit), and playing. There is even a swing under the house, which both big and small children will find difficult to resist!

If you fancy a day out, the Suffolk Wildlife Trust land next door has wonderful nature trails and the glorious Suffolk Coast is just 5 miles away for sunny beach days or a walk. The historic towns of Aldeburgh and Walberswick with traditional pubs and restaurants are also nearby to be explored.

Balancing Barn is a remarkable house where you will be surprised with extraordinary architecture and design, but also with all the comfort and functionality for a relaxing holiday with family or friends. The house offers nice views over the countryside and is surrounded by a large lush (2.5 ha) garden.

Layout Balancing Barn | 8 people

  • You enter the house in the kitchen, which has a wooden dining table and is equipped with all facilities, including a convection oven, combination microwave, induction hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, washing machine, and dryer. In addition, you will find David Mellor (DM) kitchen knives, cutting boards, sieves and colanders, cooking utensils, a range of DM saucepans (suitable for the induction hob), food blender, scales, mixing bowls, a rolling pin, glassware (cups, wine glasses, champagne glasses), DM cutlery (including children's cutlery), a teapot and mugs. Finally, there are two cafetières for filter coffee and a Nespresso machine.
  • A hallway leads to the living room (with a partial glass floor) on the other (floating) side of the house. Here are several sofas and comfortable chairs, also you find here a wood burner, a music system and lots of books!
  • There are four en-suite double bedrooms, two of which also have a bath in the bedroom. The bathrooms are equipped with a shower, sink, and toilet. In two bedrooms you will find super-king size beds that can also be made up of two single beds.

Outside:

  • Six acres of private gardens and patios for eating, cooking (outdoor fire pit), and playing.
  • Parking spaces and an EV charging point
