On a remote hillside deep in the heart of Wales and completely immersed in nature, stands an architectural gem: Life House. The large house was designed by architect John Pawson - famous for his minimalist architectural style - as a retreat where peace and reflection are paramount and where you can recharge your batteries.

Built entirely with Danish handmade bricks, black on the outside and white on the inside, Life House is complemented with polished terrazzo floors and Douglas fir ceilings, providing both warmth and intimacy. The serene decor is simple yet luxurious and features classic and bespoke furniture and accessories (designed by Pawson) including crockery, cutlery, and hanging lamps.

From the covered porch entrance, you enter a generous and wood-paneled kitchen, situated next to the dining area and large sitting room with a gorgeous lounge sofa, a free-standing wood-burning stove, and large windows looking out to the hills beyond. There are two unique contemplation areas, a striking dark room where two stone benches invite you to an inner retreat and an outdoor space with the Welsh mountains as a backdrop. The three ensuite bedrooms are equipped with luxurious touches like Egyptian cotton bed linens and REN toiletries. Each room is dedicated to a different activity (reading, listening to music, bathing) and respectively feature a library, an extensive music collection, and an eye-catching sunken bathtub with a view of the landscape.

The surrounding countryside is so picturesque that you really need to explore it. You will find beautiful hiking trails in all directions, but cycling, fishing, and horseback riding are also possible. In addition, the ancient spa town of Llandrindod Wells is a 30-minute drive away with museums, green parks, and an attractive lake for canoeing and rowing.

Life House is a large house, on one level, which is furnished in a luxurious and minimalist style. Secluded and completely immersed in nature, this is a very remarkable holiday home for guests seeking peace and relaxation.

  • From the covered porch entrance, you enter the wood-lined kitchen located next to the dining area with a dining table and the sitting room with a beautiful lounge sofa, wood-burning stove, and television.
  • The kitchen is equipped with all (cooking) facilities including a convection oven, combination microwave, induction hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, washing machine, and dryer. The kitchen equipment was provided by David Mellor and When Objects Work - including DM kitchen knives, chopping boards, sieves and colanders, graters, whisks, tongs, cooking utensils, an assortment of saucepans (suitable for the induction hob), food blender, scales, mixing bowls, a rolling pin and pastry brush, glassware (cups, wine glasses, champagne flutes), John Pawson designed cutlery, a teapot and mugs. Finally, there are two cafetières for filter coffee and a Nespresso machine.
  • There are three double bedrooms (one of which can be twinned). All bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom with a toilet, plus a shower or bath.
  • Guest toilet
