Meet the people behind the place - Casa Oliveto
Nestled in the serene countryside of Abruzzo, Casa Oliveto is more than just a retreat—it’s a home filled with history, heart, and hospitality. Silvia, together with her mother Rosa, has transformed this family estate into a haven where guests can slow down, connect with nature, and experience the authentic charm of the region. In this interview, Silvia shares the story behind Casa Oliveto, the love and dedication poured into every detail, and the unforgettable experiences that await those who visit.
Before we dive into the details, could you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Silvia, I am 40 years old, and I live in Pescara in a small house overlooking the sea with my husband, Maurizio, and our three children, Lorenzo, Linda, and Luigi. Just a few kilometers away, in Spoltore, lives my mother, Rosa.
We would love to share a bit about you as a person with our customers. Would you like to tell us more about yourself?
My interests, free time activities, work, family, holidays I love traveling and experiencing places in an authentic way, connecting with the people who live there and immersing myself in their culture. For me, a journey is not just about seeing new places but about understanding different ways of life and sharing meaningful moments. I practice yoga and seek activities that help me connect with myself. My family is at the heart of everything I do—I take care of my children and guide them through their activities, encouraging them to explore what they love and what truly makes them happy.
When and in what way did this property come into your life and what motivated you to make it a part of your life?
In 2009, my parents bought six hectares of land and built a beautiful house surrounded by nature. Our land is filled with ancient olive trees, but also fruit trees, making each season special with their colors and scents. After my father passed away in 2011, my mother, an architect, found the strength—thanks to the support of a dear friend—to open the house to people, turning it into a place of hospitality and connection. Today, alongside her, I continue this journey with Casa Oliveto, welcoming guests from around the world and offering them an authentic experience in the Abruzzo countryside. My brother Tommaso, who lives in Milan, has always believed in this dream with us. Casa Oliveto is, at heart, a house of women—strong, welcoming, and always ready to share the beauty of our land.
Can you tell us more about the process of renovating and furnishing your property?
There isn’t much to say—every wall, every detail tells a story of research and dedication. Since 2004, when the first bricks were laid, every step has been a journey, carefully choosing materials and solutions that reflect the soul of this place. Casa Oliveto is not just a house; it is the result of years of passion, vision, and love for beauty and authenticity.
On a personal level, what makes your property truly special for you? Any standout memories or moments that make it dear to your heart?
Even in the hardest moments, this house was never abandoned. It remained a place of beauty, a home that held us together, offering us the chance to experience its warmth and share unforgettable moments with the people we love and have loved. Casa Oliveto is not just a place; it is a testament to resilience, love, and the deep bond that ties us to it.
How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your property?
I’d describe the atmosphere at Casa Oliveto as serene, warm, and welcoming. The house has a timeless charm, with spaces that feel both cozy and expansive. The interior is carefully curated to reflect a blend of traditional and contemporary styles, creating an inviting and comfortable environment.
Which part of your property do you love the most, and why?
I love the kitchen the most. It’s a warm, inviting space where the heart of the home beats. It’s not just about the food, but the feeling of togetherness it creates. The kitchen has a way of making everyone feel welcomed, and it’s a place where both cooking and sharing a meal become an act of love. It’s where memories are made, where the essence of Casa Oliveto comes to life, and where the true spirit of hospitality resides.
