Meet the people behind the place: Lune de la Vallée and Maison Rosé

Lune de la Vallée and Maison Rosé grew from a shared dream shaped by years of travel, family life and a love for warm, personal hospitality. What began as the search for a holiday home in rural France gradually evolved into two distinctive places, each with its own atmosphere and charm. With their peaceful setting, thoughtful details and welcoming feel, they invite guests to slow down and enjoy the rhythm of life in this beautiful corner of France.

What is the name of your accommodation?

Lune de la Vallée and Maison Rosé

Could you introduce yourself and share a bit about your life, such as your interests, hobbies, or background?

After many years of travelling, we felt it was time to bring all of our experiences together in a small, personal holiday retreat of our own. During our travels, we were always drawn to intimate, characterful places where hospitality and attention to detail truly matter. Places where you instantly feel at home. Child-friendly, yet with a strong focus on what makes a stay enjoyable for adults as well. A place where you can meet like-minded people or simply unwind in your own peaceful space.

Marlous has always had a strong passion for interior design, and last August, she decided to leave her work as a doctor when we moved to France as a family. Our daughters, Lune (12), Madee (10) and Naví (7) started at a French school, and since then, we have been fully immersed in renovating and designing our new home.

Tim combines a technical background with studies at an art academy, allowing him to fully express his creativity in the renovation, design, and layout of spaces.

How did your property become part of your life? When did it happen, and what inspired or motivated you to take it on?

In 2023, we decided to buy a holiday home for both personal use and rental. This became Maison Rosé, located in the same region. After spending several weeks there during the summer, we realised how much we loved the area and started looking for a larger property with multiple units for guests.

It was important for us to live on-site and be close to our guests, to create a sense of connection and interaction. From that moment on, everything moved quite quickly. We put our house up for sale in October, sold it in November, and at the same time began negotiations with the previous owners of what was then called Gîtes Jeanquet. It was the only property we were truly interested in.

By December 2024, everything was finalised, and we eventually received the keys in September 2025.

What was the process of creating your property like? Tell us about renovating, furnishing, or styling it.

We designed everything ourselves, from the layouts and concepts to the interior styling. Tim prepared the technical drawings for the contractors, while Marlous handled sourcing and interior design. We also created the website, logo and photography ourselves.

The contractor handled the major construction work, but we did a lot ourselves as well, including installing kitchens, painting and electrical work, often with the help of family and friends.

What makes your property truly special to you? Do you have any favorite spots, cherished memories, or personal touches that make it dear to your heart?

We love how the five lofts are arranged around a courtyard, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. As you walk further, you arrive at a beautiful open view over the valley, where the swimming pool is located. It is a truly unique setting, combining complete openness and tranquillity with a very central location, just five minutes by car or a scenic 45-minute walk from the charming village of Villeréal.

Each loft is entirely different, which makes them special in their own way. They are set within a former farmhouse and dovecote, and each space retains its authentic French character.

How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your property?

The lofts are located within an old farmhouse and dovecote, combining traditional French charm with a modern, playful interior. Think terracotta tiles paired with soft beige stripes in the bathrooms, or a contemporary sofa combined with a pink kitchen.

We chose natural materials throughout, such as linen bedding and jute rugs, to create a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

What motivated or inspired you to rent your property to guests?

We are truly excited to share this place with our guests. It has become such a special and welcoming retreat, and we look forward to opening it up to others.

What can guests expect when staying at your accommodation? Share the experience, the highlights, and perhaps the best compliment you’ve received from past guests.

Guests can expect a personal welcome, starting with a refreshing drink on the covered terrace of our café and small restaurant space. There is also an honesty bar where guests can enjoy local craft sodas, natural wines and beers. In the morning, you can pick up pre-ordered croissants and baguettes and enjoy a great cappuccino. Tim has a real passion for coffee and is also a barista.

We also organise dinners at least once a week, depending on occupancy.

After the welcome drink, we give guests a tour of the property and their beautiful loft, and from that moment, the holiday truly begins.

What do you hope guests will take away from their stay, and do you have any special tips or recommendations to make their holiday unforgettable?

We hope guests leave feeling relaxed and take a little piece of the French way of life home with them.
We have created a Lune de la Vallée magazine with all our favourite spots in the area. It includes our favourite restaurants, cafés, shops, bakeries and activities such as canoeing and visiting castles.

The local markets are also a must. In the morning, you can visit traditional markets, and in the evening, there are lively food markets where you can sit at long tables, choose dishes from different stalls and enjoy live music from local artists.
