If you're lucky, you may even spot the endangered Caretta caretta sea turtles, which return every year to nest on Zakynthos.

Away from the coastline, Zakynthos reveals another side. Wander through traditional villages like Kampi, Keri, Volimes and Agios Leon, where you'll find family-run tavernas, local olive oil producers and spectacular viewpoints overlooking the Ionian Sea. For a lively evening, visit Zakynthos Town, with its elegant squares, waterfront promenade, boutique shops and welcoming restaurants.

Greek cuisine is all about sharing, fresh ingredients and long lunches. The best time to visit 

Zakynthos is beautiful from May through October. Spring brings colourful wildflowers and pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for hiking and sightseeing. During summer, the island comes alive with beach clubs, boat trips and warm evenings outdoors. September and October are favourites among many travellers, with warm seas, fewer visitors and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere.
