Meet Vincent Madaro, proud owner of Casina Trovanza in Puglia

Casina Trovanza, located in the heart of Apulia, is a carefully renovated farmhouse with a unique combination of historical heritage, design, and nature. Owner Vincenzo Madaro, passionate about art, architecture, and environmental management, loves to share the tranquility and beauty of this place with guests, amidst olive groves and breathtaking views of the Gulf of Taranto.

Before we dive into the details, could you briefly introduce yourselves and any family members?

I am Vincenzo Madaro, 47 years old, from Massafra (Italy, Apulia), and I am the owner of Casina Trovanza.

We would love to share more about you as individuals with our customers. Would you like to tell us more about yourselves?

I hold a degree in political science with a specialization in environmental management, which has broadened my understanding of social, ecological, and political complexities. After my studies, I returned to my roots in Apulia and began working while setting up a remarkable film festival. My passion for film led me to commit to projects aimed at schools to introduce students to film and enhance their artistic education. Besides cinema, I have an intense love for contemporary art and architecture. Since 2013, I have managed the family farm, established by my grandfather Angelo in 1970, where we grow oranges and olives and produce our own EVO oil. In 2019, I decided to renovate Casina Trovanza.

When and how did the accommodation come into your life, and what motivated you to make it a part of your life?

Casina Trovanza has always been a part of my life. It is my family's country house, where I spent every summer until my university years. It has always been a place where we welcomed people from all over the world. It radiates peace and serenity, making it ideal for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle while staying close to the city.

Can you tell us more about the process of renovating and furnishing your accommodation?

The renovation of Casina Trovanza involved a combination of historic preservation and modern adaptations. The 'masseria' was built in the early 1900s, located on the edge of a ravine and surrounded by a stunning landscape of olive and citrus groves. We preserved original elements, such as the tuff stone walls and vaults, and collaborated with local artisans to make the outdoor and indoor spaces comfortable and inviting. The design combines vintage furniture with modern design elements, and the terraces offer breathtaking views over the Gulf of Taranto.

What makes your accommodation truly special for you? Are there special memories or moments that make it extra dear to you?

Casina Trovanza is the place of my heart. I have experienced beautiful moments there, such as my birthdays and my graduation, with family and friends. The natural surroundings with their different levels, the rocks, the forest, and the view of the Gulf of Taranto make it a unique place for me.

How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your accommodation?

Outside, the atmosphere is relaxed, surrounded by green shades and the scents of wild plants. Inside, the spaces are spread over three floors, with a large living room on the ground floor and comfortable bedrooms on the first floor. There is plenty of privacy and a harmony between indoor and outdoor.

Which part of your accommodation do you cherish the most and why?

It’s hard to choose, but I would say the area dedicated to the barbecue and the wood oven, where I love to spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy walks with my dog Nina along the path that winds around the estate.

What makes the location of your accommodation unique and special?

Casina Trovanza is located in the regional nature park 'Parco delle Gravine', in a strategic position to visit the most beautiful places in Apulia and Basilicata, such as the Valle d'Itria, Matera, and the coast of Monopoli and Polignano.

Are there any sustainable or eco-friendly practices associated with your accommodation that you are proud of?

Casina Trovanza is also an organic farm where we produce organic oranges and olive oil. Soon, we will install a photovoltaic system that will cover 75% of our energy needs with clean energy.

What motivated or inspired you to rent your property to guests?

Of course, there is an economic motivation, but mainly the joy of sharing a place that is dear to me with guests who appreciate it just as much as I do.

Could you provide a vivid description of the overall experience guests can expect during their stay at your accommodation?

Guests are often surprised by the beauty of the house and the surrounding landscape. There are multiple indoor and outdoor spaces at different levels, providing peace and relaxation. The house is decorated with care and comfort, and many guests love to spend entire days on the estate without leaving.

In what ways does your accommodation stand out from others? What unique features make it an unforgettable experience for guests?

The combination of the beauty of the house, the strategic location, the surrounding nature, and total privacy while still being close to the city makes Casina Trovanza unique.

What is the nicest compliment you have received from a guest?

The best compliment came from a guest from New York, who said that the photos on the website cannot convey how spectacular Casina Trovanza is in reality. He was impressed by the beautiful decor and the breathtaking view of the olive and orange groves and the Gulf of Taranto. He found it such a wonderful experience that he absolutely wants to return.

Do you have any recommendations for guests to make the most of their vacation? Your valuable tips will be featured on your accommodation's page!

If guests have special requests or want more information about the region, I recommend contacting me before arrival so I can help them discover the most authentic places. The best months to visit Apulia are May, June, September, October, and November, as the climate is mild and there are fewer crowds!
