Altea has an 8-km long coastline, consisting of several pebble beaches and coves. Some beaches have great restaurants and bars where you can rent a sun chair and umbrellas as well.

Do you prefer a natural beach?

Close to the cliffs, you will find pristine beaches where you can relax and enjoy the tranquility. There is even a separate nude beach (Playa La Solsida). Do you instead prefer to a sandy beach? The sandy beaches of Calpe and Benidorm are only a fifteen-minute drive away. Visit the city of Altea for cozy restaurants and your groceries. The town is considered to be the cultural capital of the Valencia region. Many artists have been long established here and you sense a unique bohemian atmosphere. Altea also boasts outstanding buildings such as the elevated Parroquial Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo. To reach this church, you walk through a labyrinth of lively streets with white houses and numerous hanging plants on the walls. From Mirador Cronistas de España or one of the many other viewpoints, you can marvel at the splendid coastline. In the surroundings of Altea, there are many other charming villages to explore and a visit to Valencia (1.5 hours) is also one of the possibilities!

To do’s in and near Altea:

There are plenty of things to do in and on the water! Feel the rippling waves underneath your stand-up paddleboard. Rent a canoe and make a fantastic trip along the bays and cliffs. You can also go surfing, snorkeling, diving, water skiing or jet skiing. And what about a magnificent boat trip along the coast?

Aqualandia water park grants fun for all ages, and especially teens will love it here! Glide on a tire tube through the Rapids or hold a contest with the whole family on the Smooth Slides. Do you have real daredevils in your family? Look who dares to go into the Verti-Go! Aqualandia water park is easily accessible and only a 20-minute drive from Altea.

Stroll the Muestra de Artesania in Altea: a true artisan market where beautiful handmade items can be bought directly from the artist. And don’t miss out Gallery Varga in Casco Antigua.

At a short walking distance from the main church, you will find in one of the charming white houses, this gallery where you can admire the fantastic (portrait) photographs of photographer Balazs Varga. Many pictures have been taken in the area around Altea and give you a good impression of the residents and their culture.
