The name of your accommodation(s)
Oliveto Estate - Villa Olivo & Villa Oliveto
Before we dive into the details, could you briefly introduce yourself (and if relevant also your family members | name, age, place of residence)?
My name is Amanda. Born in the UK to Italian parents, I live in London with my family and two children, but Italy definitely feels like home!
We would love to share a bit about you as a person with our customers. Would you like to tell us more about yourself? For example: your interests, free time activities, work, family, holidays?
A keen traveller, we have visited many countries for both work and pleasure. Married to an Aussie has given us every opportunity to make many trips further a field and see new places along the way! My background is Service and product innovation with more recently creating my own small business at Oliveto Estate crafting bespoke wellness, adventure, cycling and cooking retreats in Le Marche, where many of my family were born.
When and in what way did this property come into your life and what motivated you to make it a part of your life?
We bought the property in the town where my mum and her family were born, it is very much a home from home and we hope to be able to pass it down from generations to come. Le Marche is a very special place to us, but also to our guests who love to return year after year :)
Can you tell us more about the process of renovating and furnishing your property?
The property was bought many years ago and over the years we have renovated each of the homes on the property as well as the gardens which have been completely redesigned. We have loved connecting with the local partners, builders, painters and carpenters who have helped us craft a truly magical place that you really never wish to leave!
On a personal level, what makes your property truly special for you? Any standout memories or moments that make it dear to your heart?
The fact that when anyone who comes to stay just keeps wanting to come back and return, we have had many visitors who have said that they have found it the only place that they can truly relax, this is really special for us, especially when we hear this from our guests. We have many guests returning year on year.
How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your property?
"The atmosphere of Oliveto Estate is designed to be both calm, inviting and to feel like a home; offering a perfect balance between calm privacy and spaces that bring people together. The interiors are thoughtfully crafted with a seamless blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. Natural materials like stone, wood, and earthy tones create a warm, grounded feeling, while large windows invite in abundant natural light, framing views of the surrounding olive groves. Private areas throughout the estate are designed for tranquility—cozy bedrooms, intimate nooks, and peaceful terraces offer guests a chance to unwind and recharge. At the same time, the communal spaces are perfect for groups, whether it’s gathering around a large dining table, lounging in the airy living areas, or sharing laughter and stories by the pool. The overall atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, making it ideal for everything from quiet retreats to joyful celebrations with family and friends."
Which part of your property do you love the most, and why?
It has to be the purpose-built wellness studio. This is such a flexible space that also has a wonderful energy around it. You just need to sit on the deck overlooking the rolling hills over our 400 olive trees and you immediately feel truly relaxed and restored.
What makes the location where your accommodation is located unique and special?
"Apart from the 9 acres of wonderful manicured gardens and our very own olive grove overlooking the Adriatic crystalline waters, Le Marche has so much to offer those looking to venture off the beaten track. One of Italy’s smallest but most diverse regions, Le Marche is a true hidden gem. Tucked away on the east coast of central Italy, this picturesque region, offers an irresistible blend of breathtaking landscapes spanning dramatic mountains, blue flag beaches and rolling hills of Medieval hilltop villages in between. Whilst endlessly beautiful, Le Marche is also rich in centuries-old history, UNESCO heritage sites and mouthwatering cuisine, all within a short car drive of each other. Imagine starting your day with a morning hike in the majestic Sibillini Mountains. Whisk yourself off to one of the many Medieval hilltop towns, voted the most beautiful in Italy for a typical Marchigiana lunch using centuries old recipes. Finish the day by bathing in the crystalline blue waters of the Adriatic Sea, before relaxing into an aperitivo and dinner on the beach whilst watching the sun go down."
Are there any sustainable or eco-friendly applications associated with your property that you are proud of?
Sustainable Practices at Oliveto Estate:
- Untouched Region: By venturing off the beaten path, you can help reduce overtourism in Italy while discovering the hidden gems of the region: mountains, sea, rolling hills, and a rich culinary tradition, all filled with authenticity.
- Supporting the Local Community: We work closely with local partners to ensure tourism in Le Marche benefits both the local people and visitors, preserving the region's integrity.
- Open Year-Round: We create sustainable employment throughout the year, contributing to the local economy and reducing overtourism. Le Marche offers unique experiences all year long.
- Recycling: We recycle all plant waste, repurposing it as mulch for the land.
- Olive Oil: We produce our own olive oil each year from the harvest of our 400 olive trees, some of which are over 100 years old.
- Drinking Water: We have invested in filtered water throughout the estate, so guests don’t need to rely on plastic bottled water.
- Rainwater: All rainwater is collected into our 8 wells and underground reservoir, which is then reused to keep the estate's gardens green and fresh.
- Solar Panels: We’ve installed solar panels to reduce our carbon footprint. These help heat the hot water system on the estate.
- Heat Exchanger: Our heated pool operates with a heat exchanger, using outdoor air to reduce energy consumption.
- Community Spirit: We are a vital part of the community and participate in key groups that help shape the future of the local area.
- Locally Sourced: Whenever possible, we purchase products that are organic, seasonal, and locally sourced. We support local independent businesses, whether it’s fresh pasta, bread, artisanal gelato, fruits, vegetables, meats, or fish.
- Local Artisans: We completely redesigned and rebuilt Oliveto Estate using local craftsmen, joiners, builders, painters, gardeners, architects, and planners, further supporting the community.
