I am Agathe, the owner of Domaine l'Ermitage, for the past three years. I started this project with my partner François, and my family has been a great support, as has the team of professionals I have been working with since the beginning.
I would describe myself as sociable, discreet, and dedicated to my work. My passions include interior decoration, beautiful things, and horseback riding, and I hope our guests will experience this during their stay at l'Ermitage.
I lived in Chantilly, near Paris, where my partner was a trainer for racehorses. In 2021, I decided to return to my home region. During an unplanned visit, I was enchanted by the estate. It was an old stable, the surroundings were unique, and the possibilities for development were enormous. After some deliberation, I decided to take on this new challenge and immerse myself in this beautiful adventure.
The renovation was extensive and took more than two years. We reimagined the entire building to create a pleasant, energy-efficient place that is open to the outside world and nature. I worked with a team of professionals, and it was a real pleasure to see how the property developed.
This house brings together everything I love. I have passed on my world and my values to this place. Together with my sister, I selected the decor and spent weekends at markets finding furniture. Collaborating with my sister-in-law and colleagues to start the business was a wonderful experience.
The atmosphere at Domaine l'Ermitage is unique: you feel the 5-star comfort, see the recycled or second-hand furniture, eat from tableware made by a local potter, and relax in direct contact with nature on the terrace.
My favorite spot is the open terrace with the pool, jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen, and fire pit. It is a place to relax and share, and the jacuzzi at sunset is the highlight of the day.
The location of the property is unique because there are no neighbors. Guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor activities like hiking, horseback riding, yoga, and more in complete tranquility.
We are working on obtaining the European Ecolabel, which demonstrates our commitment to the environment and promotes our region.
What motivates me to rent to guests is the opportunity to meet new people, share experiences, and learn from each other.
Guests relax at l'Ermitage, sleep in comfortable beds with linen, share meals prepared by our chefs, and enjoy activities such as yoga, horseback riding, cooking classes, and massages. They also discover the beautiful region, from beaches to picturesque villages, and Spain, which is just an hour away.
Domaine l'Ermitage is unique due to the beautiful region, top-class amenities, and the personal, refined decor that respects the environment.
Last summer, we hosted an American who was traveling around the world. He was moved by his stay, the renewed connection with nature, and the view of the Pyrenees. The best compliment is the emotions and memories evoked at l'Ermitage.
We recommend our guests take the time to enjoy the simple moments of life. Visit the Peyrehorade market, the salt baths in Salies de Béarn, or take a trip to Biarritz, Bayonne, or San Sebastian.
