Ca'SaLentu - La Corte dei Colori

Could you introduce yourself and share a bit about your life, such as your interests, hobbies, or background?

We are Soemi and Cristian! We met at the University 16 years ago and we fell in love. At the same time, we met Ilaria, our Apulian friend, who made us discover and fall in love with Salento. We live near the border between Marche and Abruzzo, we have a lovely poodle, Gianni, who follows us everywhere... and soooon our family will grow. A baby is coming to Ca'SaLentu!! We love travelling, always seeking out unusual places and accommodations, also to get inspiration for our Ca'SaLentu.

How did your property become part of your life? When did it happen, and what inspired or motivated you to take it on?

After travelling every year to Salento for 16 years, we decided to look for a little place to feel like our home away from home during our frequent stays. This search took time and lasted 2 years, until we found the amazing Corte dei Colori in Spongano, and in December 2021 we completed the purchase.

What was the process of creating your property like? Tell us about renovating, furnishing, or styling it.

We were lucky since our small flat was already renovated; therefore, we only had to think about furnishing and styling it to our taste. It was a nice journey, even if not always easy because of our distance (we live about 600 kilometers away from there). Our aim was to bring to life the ancient history of the place (consider that La Corte dei Colori was originally a small convent dating back to 1758) and to preserve, as much as possible, the original charm. Natural tones, local handicrafts, and recycled materials are some of the guidelines of our work of restyling.

What makes your property truly special to you? Do you have any favorite spots, cherished memories, or personal touches that make it dear to your heart?

Our property means, for us, a dream coming true and the fulfilment of a long-lasting project. Furthermore, it symbolizes the important friendship with our Ilaria.

How would you describe the atmosphere and interior of your property?

Ca'SaLentu has a very cozy, warm and intimate atmosphere given by natural and authentic interiors.

Are there any sustainable or eco-friendly applications associated with your property that you are proud of?

We did our best to choose, as much as possible, pieces of furniture and textiles crafted from recycled materials.

What motivated or inspired you to rent your property to guests?

We wanted to give our guests the same sense of beauty we breathe every time we enter the door of Ca'SaLentu, and the chance to slow down and disconnect from the fast world outside.
