The Jazz boutique villa (other villas are The June boutique villa, The Joya boutique villa, and The Jave boutique villa, all part of The June Boutiques)
We are a family business consisting of Arjan, Patricia, and their four daughters Lynn, Maxime, Lois, Britt, and our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Moos. The family started a few years ago with a holiday home for ourselves but soon discovered the joy of renting and hospitality. Patricia had already worked in hospitality in her younger years, when her parents owned La Butte aux Bois in Lanaken.
Over time, the company grew, with Patricia gradually passing the baton to Maxime, who is now responsible for interior design and guest relations. Arjan mainly focuses on finances and supervising construction projects. The rest of the family enjoys brainstorming about new names for future houses, and together we always look for the best ways to truly pamper our guests.
Arjan, Patricia, and their daughter Lynn were in Spain when they first came across what would later become The Jazz. At the time, the house was still called Casa Bastogna. The moment they visited the villa, they immediately saw its potential. “Arjan and I looked at each other and nodded. We knew: this is a good choice,” Patricia recalls.
They still had a second viewing scheduled, but when they arrived at the other property, their feeling for The Jazz only grew stronger. Right there in the parking lot, they decided: The Jazz would be their new adventure.
The Jazz is the third renovation project of the Kuiper family. Arjan led the construction, kept an eye on costs, and solved technical challenges, such as replacing corroded beams and creating new structures. The biggest challenge, he explains, was the planning:
“Managing the schedule from a distance is not always easy, and previous projects taught us that deadlines can be deceptive. That’s why we’re so glad we didn’t take in tenants until the house was fully finished—that had been a real issue with one of our earlier projects.”
Maxime took charge of the creative side, from material choices to the layout and flow of the interiors. And with six perspectives at the table—Arjan, Patricia, and their four daughters—there was always a lively dialogue. It is exactly this that gives the villa its soul and character.
“Of course, every idea is thoroughly discussed first,” Maxime explains, “but by communicating and thinking outside the box, we often arrive at solutions much faster.”
The favorite spot in the house is the living room; once an uncovered outdoor terrace, it is now a warm and welcoming space that fully embraces its guests. The U-shaped sofa creates a cozy corner where you can relax while still being connected to the kitchen and dining room. It’s a space that invites togetherness, where the presence of others is always close by.
What also makes the villa unique is that the entire house breathes music. A piano, saxophone, and vinyl player fill the villa with sound and atmosphere. Maxime remembers how the previous owners, during their farewell, immediately began to play when they saw the piano. “Within minutes, the room was filled with music and laughter. That is exactly what we want our guests to experience: playfulness, inspiration, and connection.”
The interior and atmosphere of the house are playful and warm, with lots of earthy tones and natural materials such as microcement, concrete stucco, linen, chestnut beams, and jute. These are complemented by beautiful pieces from brands such as Versmissen and Eichholtz, making the house unique and giving it the attention it deserves.
Absolutely. The house has its own battery system that works together with solar panels. During the day, the batteries are charged with surplus solar energy, and in the evening, that energy is used. As a result, the villa is self-sufficient (even during a power outage across Spain) and requires almost no electricity from the grid.
Arjan has always loved building, both in his own business—where he was CEO—and in private projects. For Patricia, hospitality runs in her blood. She spent a large part of her youth working in her parents’ family business, La Butte aux Bois. Hospitality is in her genes, and combined with Arjan’s determination to grow a business, The June Boutiques quickly expanded.
The success of the other villas under The June Boutiques made it clear that The Jazz also deserved to be renovated and included under the boutique villa brand.
Guests who stay with us can expect a unique combination of luxury, comfort, and personal attention. It is a place where you don’t just go on holiday—you truly feel at home. We had an amazing stay at this holiday villa! The property is spotless and beautifully maintained, with every detail designed with great taste. The interiors are stylish yet comfortable, and the outdoor spaces are just as inviting, perfect for relaxing or enjoying meals together. Everything feels thoughtfully arranged to create a calm and luxurious atmosphere. The villa combines elegance with a warm, welcoming vibe, making it truly special. We were impressed by how clean and well cared for everything was throughout our stay. It’s the kind of place you immediately feel at home in but with a touch of luxury. We highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a perfect holiday retreat!
We hope that guests return home feeling creative, inspired, and recharged, able to look at their lives with fresh eyes. We also hope to foster connection between guests, thanks to the spaces designed especially for togetherness and the musical elements that surround them.
We love connecting our guests with local partners to make their stay even more memorable. This could mean arranging a private chef so they can enjoy excellent food while focusing on their company, or organizing a boat trip through our contacts. There are also beautiful hikes in the area, various tennis and padel courts, golf courses, delightful restaurants, and the most picturesque coves to discover.
