Casanguilla is a unique holiday home in the heart of Puglia, designed by the creative duo Sara and Luca. With a background in fashion and architecture, they renovated this accommodation themselves, prioritizing sustainability and local traditions. Casanguilla offers a tranquil escape into nature, with a warm atmosphere and personal style that welcomes every guest.
We are Sara and Luca, 45 and 42 years old, and we live in Milan. Sara was born and raised in Florence, while Luca is originally from Brescia. Our family is completed by Totò, a 13-year-old dog that we rescued in Sicily. Our accommodation is called Casanguilla.
Sara has had a long career in the fashion industry and has recently transitioned to interior design. Her keen sense of aesthetics, developed over years in the fashion world, drives her to create spaces that align with her ideal of beauty. Luca, on the other hand, is an architect and photographer with a passion for history and a love for brutalist aesthetics. His projects are characterized by precise volumes and regular shapes.
We ended up in Puglia during a search for a slower pace of life and closer contact with nature. The accommodation immediately touched us with the authenticity of the landscape and the serene atmosphere of the place.
The project for Casanguilla was entirely designed by us, aiming to create a seamless harmony with the surrounding landscape. We used local materials and followed traditional building methods, focusing on eco-sustainable principles. The interior reflects who we are: a mix of personal items, travel memories, local craftsmanship, and design pieces.
The nearly two-year creative journey that brought our accommodation to life is a fusion of our shared visions. It is not only our first joint project as a couple but also in terms of design.
The atmosphere at Casanguilla is warm and welcoming, yet open to the landscape. Verandas and terraces make the transition from outdoors to indoors seamless and encourage outdoor living. The large windows allow for full enjoyment of the beauty of the Puglian countryside.
Our favorite space in Casanguilla is the living room, where light flows in all day thanks to the wide openings and orientation. At sunset, the rays of the "gelosia" fall on the walls, creating a beautiful effect.

The accommodation is fully energy self-sufficient thanks to solar panels that convert sunlight into electricity. The building materials respect tradition and are natural: tuff stone, wood, and travertine.

A stay at Casanguilla offers the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The days pass slowly, in harmony with the rhythm of the countryside. You can enjoy local products during an outdoor lunch under the portico or refresh yourself in the private pool.
